KCK man convicted of property damage, animal abuse for killing turtle

A Kansas City, Kansas man has been convicted of first degree property damage and felony animal abuse in Jackson County.

Forty-five-year-old Lonnie V. Mitchell faces the Class D felonies after he damaged a house in the 5500 block of Woodland in June 2016. He also killed a pet turtle named Seymour.

Mitchell’s sentencing hearing is set for September. Both felonies are punishable by up to four years in prison.
