A man has pleaded guilty to beating a woman to death inside a downtown Kansas City hotel in 2014.
A front desk employee of America’s Best Value Inn & Suites found Brenda E. Anderson dead in the shower in a room at the hotel at 3240 Broadway at about 9:50 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2014.
A business card in a trash can was found with the name Paul Simmons written on the back, court documents state. Surveillance video revealed Simmons checking in with Anderson and coming and going from the room.
Simmons refused to talk with police about the killing.
A judge sentenced Simmons to 23 years in prison.
