A man is charged in an early morning burglary that ended with the suspect shot with his gun.
Prosecutors charged Monte Hill, 30, of Grandview, with first-degree burglary and armed criminal action, according to court documents.
The crime began about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday at a house in the 6100 block of East 97th Street.
The man living in the house told police he heard glass break near a patio door. He went to investigate and found Hill in his house, court documents state.
The two men know one another, according to court documents.
The victim told police Hill said nothing to the man before the two men fought over the gun.
The struggle ended when the man shot Hill in the stomach.
Court documents state the .45-caliber handgun used in the shooting was stolen in August 2015 in Stuttgard, Arkansas.
Police found Hill in the front yard. He told officers he broke into the house to take back a gun that was stolen from him, court documents state.
