A 38-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a car near US 40 Highway and River Boulevard on Friday.
Independence police say the collision occurred around 8:57 p.m. when the victim, Derrick Hubbard, was walking westbound on the north shoulder of US 40 Highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car that struck Hubbard drove off after the incident and police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a silver colored Dodge Avenger 2013-2015 model.
