The reward for information leading to an arrest in Jacob Branter’s homicide has increased to $4,000.

A news release from Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers says it and the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department are seeking additional information in regard to the April 3 homicide of Jacob Brantner.

Around 8:30 p.m., Brantner was at a shopping center at 8700 East 63rd Street to complete the sale of a gun and was shot.

The news release says police have requested information on a blue Ford 500 with a sunroof that may have been involved in the homicide.

An additional $2,000 has been added to the existing reward, bringing the total up to a possible $4,000 for information leading to an arrest.

In the days since his murder, Brantner's family still has not learned who he was meeting up with that night. The pain of not having any answers adds to the void left behind.

His family made a plea for help Thursday morning at the same spot where he was gunned down.

"Jake was our world. We were his world. And our world was murdered," his wife Kim said, holding up his picture. "I was with him for 20 years and it wasn't enough."

She says it's been especially hard because their 10-year-old daughter was there that night.

"I have to be strong for her. I have to let her know that we can smile and we can laugh and we can go on because that's what her daddy would want," Kim said.

Brantner's mother, Carol, said she doesn't know how they'll go on. She begged anyone with answers to come forward.

"Each day seems to not get any easier. It's harder. I would feel so much comfort and ease if we just had the criminal, the murderer," she said.

The large army of friends and family are remembering him with bracelets, t-shirts, and car decals.
