KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Classes will go on as scheduled after a car crashed into Ruskin High School early Tuesday morning, a spokesperson for Hickman Mills School District said.

The driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed into the building.

An ambulance took that person to a hospital. There was a passenger in the car who was not transported.

The crash happened at the gym entrance to the school. Parents and students will not be able to enter that lot Tuesday.

The spokesperson said that section of the building will be roped off so students can’t gain access.

There doesn’t appear to be structural damage to the building, she said.

One teacher, a janitor and cafeteria staff were inside the building at the time of the crash. None of them were hurt.

The district spokesperson said the driver and passenger in the car have no connection to the school. The lot was open overnight.
