KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lenexa firefighters rescued a burn victim from a fire Saturday morning.
Crews with Lenexa fire and Johnson County Med Act were initially dispatched to Vintage Park Assisted Living on Caenen Lake Road just after 6 a.m. on a burn injury. When they arrived, the incident was upgraded to a building fire with additional crews from Lenexa and Overland Park responding.
Crews located the burn victim inside an apartment where the fire was taking place. The victim was removed and is in critical condition at the hospital.
The building did not sustain smoke or fire damage, however six apartments experienced water damage. Occupants of those apartments will be temporary relocated.
Firefighters say the fire was accidental. The cause remains under investigation.
