KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The city of Kansas City, Missouri is looking for a man who was caught on camera illegally dumping a dead deer near the 18th and Vine District.

"Just four short blocks from 18th and Vine District, we've got this red, dead, rotting deer," said Alan Ashurst, Illegal Dumping Investigator.

Ashurst said he sees illegal dumping in a number of spots around the metro area.

"You know, I'm not surprised anymore when people dump," said Ashurst.

He said the area where the deer was found, has become a popular dumping ground.

"You know, just in site here I can probably see 6, 7, 8 different dumps, I've caught actually most of them," said Ashurst.

Monday morning, Ashurst made the disturbing discovery after he went to the area to update the memory cards in his cameras. That's when he realized his cameras actually caught the man in the act.

In the last year, Ashurst said the illegal dumping problem has gotten a lot better, but it's a mess the city said they can't just wipe clean.

"Some of these dump sites are just going to be what they are until people decide you know, they're done being nasty," said Ashurst.

Not only is illegal dumping a misdemeanor, but it could leave you with a hefty fine.

"One small bundle of brush will get you $500," said Ashurst.

The city is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 311.
