KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man died after crashing a car into a building in Kansas City, Kansas, on Tuesday morning.
The vehicle drove into a Save-A-Lot store at 21st Street and Metropolitan Avenue around 8:45 a.m. Police are investigating whether the driver suffered a medical emergency before the crash.
"We talked to some witnesses who said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed north on 21st Street," KCK police spokesman Zac Blair said. "Witnesses said it appeared the driver of the vehicle was slumped over at the time before it struck the side of the building."
The man was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"There were people inside the store, but no one else was injured," Blair said.
The store remains closed until further notice.
