KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fire damaged two homes that sit a few feet from one another Wednesday night in Kansas City, Kansas.

Flames were coming from a house at 36 South Pyle Street and moved to the house just a few feet away, according to Battalion Chief Scott Schaunaman.

A second alarm was sounded as the first crews arrived to bring more firefighters to the scene, Schaunaman said.

Crews quickly moved inside to battle the fire at 36 South Pyle Street and other firefighters worked to keep flames from wrecking the second house.

Schaunaman praised the firefighters efforts at controlling damage to second house.

No one was injured.

The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help the families with temporary shelter and other needs.
