KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Overland Park home suffered significant smoke damage following a fire Tuesday morning.
Fire crews from Overland Park, Leawood and Johnson County Fire District No. 2 were called to the home in the 5100 block of West 157th Street around 9 a.m. on a report of a fire.
While some crews started battling the fire, other crews were notified a dog was inside the home and started a search.
The dog was eventually located on the second floor and taken outside the home, where it was treated for smoke inhalation. Animal control officers took the dog to a local veterinarian for additional treatment.
Fire crews put out the fire within 10 minutes. An investigation of the blaze continues.
