One month after a massive fire engulfed a Friday’s Only Furniture warehouse on Southwest Boulevard, the owner told 41 Action News businesses is almost back on track.
"Instead of sadness it's starting to get exciting again," said Steven Beyer, owner of Home Rooms Furniture.
For years, Beyer rented the warehouse to store his inventory of furniture. But last month it caught on fire, destroying the building and inventory alike.
Beyer estimates almost $1 million worth of inventory was destroyed or damaged.
"You know 38 years of work is gone," he said. "We've been selling floor samples so the store is empty."
Now things are moving forward thanks to help from the community and his business associates, including distributors. They have put him on the top of their shipping lists and have waived pricey freight fees.
Beyer also found a new warehouse in Kansas City, Kansas which he now owns.
"Shipments are hitting like wildfire and by the end of next week we are going to look like kind of what we looked like before it all happened," he said.
