Blue Valley Schools leader salary comparison

New Blue Valley Schools Superintendent Todd White will make $230,000 a year plus benefits in that role.

Documents obtained exclusively by 41 Action News show White will have company in that tax bracket from his neighboring peers.

White's and other neighboring superintendents benefits also add more money to their bottom line.

White's benefits include a $150 a month communication allowance to help pay for cell phone use, $983 a month transportation allowance and potentially a performance based bonus of up to $25,000.

By comparison, Shawnee Mission Schools Superintendent Jim Hinson makes more than $254,000 a year.

In addition to his salary, Hinson's contract includes the district paying $24,000 each year to an investment fund for him, 30 days paid vacation and $1000 a month to offset travel expenses in the Kansas City area.

Superintendent Marlin Berry of Olathe Public Schools is paid just over $231,000 a year in salary.

But his salary is scheduled to increase incrementally to over $250,000 in two years.

Berry's fringe benefits include $1,080 a year for cell phone use and $750 a month for a car allowance.

Interim Superintendent Ron Wimmer in the much smaller DeSoto School District makes an annual salary just under $180,000.

However Wimmer also retired from Olathe as Superintendent in 2005 after 14 years in that role there.
