Kansas City firefighters got out of a burning home just before the roof collapsed in an early fire Wednesday.

Firefighters were inside the home, located near 37th and Wayne, around 1:40 a.m.

Officials said as crews were making sure no one was inside, the roof collapsed shortly after they were pulled out by the fire chief.

Three people were inside when the fire started, officials said.

One of the men inside is handicapped and the others had to push them out of the window, officials said. He was hurt but is expected to be okay.

Investigators say the fire started on the porch but the cause is not yet determined.
