UPDATE, 9:34 p.m. Nov. 17 | Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the deceased man as David D. Schwertfeger, 62, of Kansas City, Missouri.
There were no signs of foul play.
ORIGINAL STORY | A dead body was pulled from the water Thursday afternoon at the Longview Lake Marina in south Kansas City, Missouri.
A KCFD spokesperson confirmed that a person was pulled from the water shortly before 4:15 p.m.
The Missouri Highway Patrol, which is investigating the incident, said the body belonged to an adult male and had been in the water for at least several days.
There was no obvious cause of death and it wasn’t clear how the man’s body ended up in the lake.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
