The two finalists for Kansas City, Missouri police chief answered questions at a public forum Thursday night.

KCPD Major Rick Smith and Norman, Oklahoma Police Chief Keith Humphrey discussed issues ranging from the causes of gun violence in the city to the need for more street patrols.

Smith said ethics will be one of the top issues he will address if he becomes police chief while Humphrey hopes to increase police data sharing with the community.

Leaders plan to announce the next police chief by late August or early September.
