KC's first artisan food hall opens in Lenexa

LENEXA, Kan. -- The first artisan food hall in the Kansas City area opened for business Friday morning in Lenexa, and city leaders hope the Public Market will become a meeting place for the community.

There are several mainstay stores and restaurants as well as pop-up shops that will continually rotate.

Here's a list of what's currently in the market:

CHEWOLOGY {Gyoza Bar & Kushiyaki} will offer Japanese gyoza (pan-fried dumplings), grilled skewer appetizers, specialty East Asian dough-based dishes, and drinks. (Opens early October)

Delyetful Soaps and Body Care Products offers a wide variety of handcrafted products for all ages including soaps, lotions, body butters and bath fizzies. (Open Sept. 1)

Good Earth Floral Design Studio will partner with the Lenexa Public Market in a space offering beautiful flowers and other gift items. (Open Sept. 1)

Foo’s Fabulous Café offers an array of locally-made treats. Enjoy fabulous frozen custard, fruit slurries, and Christopher Elbow Chocolates. (Open Sept. 1)

Frannie Franks serves award-winning coffee cake, baked from Frannie's beloved recipe. Pick up a whole coffee cake or purchase by the slice. (Open Sept. 1)

Mad Man’s NitroCream offers handcrafted, made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream available in four flavors, from the owner of Mad Man’s KC BBQ. (Open Sept. 1)

Red Kitchen Tamales is a pop-up restaurant in The Kitchen that will offer homemade tamales on Tuesdays during September. (Open Sept. 5)

The Roasterie offers its full menu of signature drinks, including coffee and espresso drinks, tea and its Cold Brew in cans and on tap and its Nitro Cold Brew in cans and on tap. Locally baked pastries and grab-and-go-snacks are available for purchase, along with a limited collection of Roasterie brewing equipment, merchandise and whole beans. The Lenexa City Center Roasterie Blend will be served, and the beans are available to buy for take-home brewing. (Opened Aug. 25)

Serene’s Bakery offers made-from-scratch desserts, using the highest-quality ingredients. (Open Sept. 1)

Thirty-Six offers handmade wood artwork, hand-carved glassware and engraved travertine stone coasters. Man cave art your wife will approve. (Open Sept. 1)

Topp’d Pizza + Salads serves up signature and custom-made pizzas using locally sourced and fresh ingredients. In addition to pizza, the menu includes fresh salads and grinder sub sandwiches, as well as a selection of small plates and appetizers. All dough, sauces, toppings and dressings are made from scratch. (Open Sept. 1)

We Got Your Back Apparel offers super-soft apparel. (Open Sept. 1)

City leaders said plans for the Public Market have been in the works for five years.
