A Lee's Summit family is without a home because of a massive fire.
The Lee's Summit Fire Department responded to the 700 block of SE 11th St. around 4:18 Tuesday morning.
The Fire Chief tells 41 Action News 3 people and 2 dogs were able to make it out of the home safely.
The Lee's Summit Fire Department said the crews were initially operating in a defensive mode to fight the fire and protect a nearby house.
Crews had the fire under control by 4:56 a.m. according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
