KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lenexa firefighters put out a fire at a golf course building early Thursday morning.

According to the fire department, they were called to investigating an outside fire around 2:15 a.m. west of Lenexa City Center.

They said that police subsequently reported a structure fire at the Canyon Farms Golf Club in the maintenance building. The officers rescued a dog from a pen connected to that building before the fire department arrived.

The alarm was upgraded and units from Johnson County Med Act, the Shawnee Fire Department and the Olathe Fire Department also responded to the club.

The maintenance building fire was out by 3:15 a.m. and was contained to equipment storage bays.

One firefighter did receive medical treatment for fire, but it's not clear what department they were from.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
