LENEXA, Kan. — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash and fire early Saturday morning at the entrance to Shawnee Mission Park.
Lenexa police officers were dispatched to the scene shortly around 1:09 a.m. on a reported vehicle fire.
Upon arrival, police found a vehicle that crashed into a stone wall at the park's entrance and caught fire.
Firefighters from the Lenexa and Shawnee fire departments extinguished the fire.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, who was identified Tuesday as 27-year-old Rachel M. Binder of Lenexa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Lenexa Police Department.
