COLUMBIA, Mo. (CNN) -- A shooting outside a Columbia, Missouri, shopping mall late Thursday night left a teen with life-threatening injuries.

Police say a man placing a gun in his holster outside the Columbia Mall fired a shot, hitting a 19-year-old man. The report said police hadn't yet officially determined if the shooting was accidental.

"We were literally just talking about how we thought it was pretty lucky that nothing happened tonight, and then we come out and this is what we saw," said Brittany Huhn, who was shopping on the holiday. "It's kind of scary to be honest."

Police said they have made no arrests and are not looking for anyone.

"There's nobody outstanding; we have everybody we need to talk to. Nobody was in any sort of danger," said Sgt. Clint Sinclair of the Columbia Police Department. "We have our detectives investigating, as well as our forensic evidence team but there's no danger to any shoppers or anything at any point during this situation."

The manager of the Columbia Mall said guns are not allowed inside the building.
