KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A woman held onto a tree above raging Indian Creek flood waters early Tuesday morning as rescue crews worked to set up a rescue operation.
The situation was "technical" and too dangerous to immediately send down a rescue crews, according to fire officials on the scene near 101st and Wornall.
Maintaining verbal contact as the crews waited for water to recede, crews got the woman to safety around 6:45 a.m.
Overnight storms shattered Indian Creek's flooding record it just set in a late July flash flood. Some areas saw as much as 10 inches of rain from this line of storms.
