A man died early Tuesday morning after a house fire near the corner of North Jackson & 39th in Kansas City, Missouri.
The fire department responded just after 2 a.m. The KCPD Bomb and Arson Unit is on the scene investigating and say that they do not believe the fire was caused by fireworks.
According to officials, the male victim's body was too badly burned to determine the race or age. A 34-year-old man is listed as the owner of the home, but there has been no confirmation that his body was found inside. The house is a total loss.

An off-duty firefighter who responded to the fire drove by the scene and told 41 Action News that the man may have been dead before the fire started. Responders found the man in the bathtub with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a can of gas on the toilet next to him, according to KCFD. Officials say this case may be a suicide.
