About 75 people packed De Soto City Hall on Thursday night after council decided to terminate the contract of city administrator Cynthia Wagner.

"You know there are a lot of things about this council that have concerned us. This was sort of a tipping point if you will," said Judy Macy. "They go to the meetings and they are just so confrontational and negative that it's impossible for our council really to accomplish much of anything."

A common theme from the people who spoke was the lack of professionalism shown by council members during its regular meetings. They are often seen yelling and arguing in the recordings available on the city's website.

Macy said, "You can watch these meetings online. It's just embarrassing. It's embarrassing to the city."

Wagner came to the position in June 2014 after stops in Lawrence, Liberty and Overland Park.

"She had a wonderful resume. There are a lot of businesses that have worked with her and just had nothing but compliments," Macy added.

When asked the reason for Wagner's termination, Macy said, "Well we don't know. We don't know know if we will ever know why."
