A local Kansas City, Kan., bowling alley on the brink of closing down is asking for help.
On Sunday, they held a fundraiser in an effort to stay open.
A decent-sized crowd came to Ranch Bowl Sunday in Kansas City, Kan.
A group of bowlers who were there Sunday said the place is like a second home.
“This is one of the only bowling alleys I’ve known," said Darrell Winzer, who's from KCK. “I’ve done, I'd say, over 90 percent of my bowling here in this building.”
Ranch Bowl is one of just two bowling alleys in KCK.
A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help the business. Click here to view it.
If Ranch Bowl closes, Winzer and his friends will have to find a new place to bowl.
“I would have to choose. We would have to choose because I would like to bowl with these guys, you know, because we kind of made a friendship down here.”
Fritz Bertz, the owner, says more support is needed to help save the 60-year-old staple in KCK from shutting down.
"Most of these bowlers won't have a place to go because there are fewer and fewer bowling centers around," he said. "The mortgage company is foreclosing on us and they already got judgment on us, so we are trying to get it before it goes to the courthouse steps."
Bertz became owner back in December. He said the former owner allegedly did not pay the mortgage. About $15,000 is needed before the end of the month to stay open.
