Olathe Mayor Michael Copeland will deliver the annual State of the City address Friday at 12:10 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center.
He's expected to speak on the tragic fatal shooting at Austin's Bar and Grill, in which 51-year-old Adam Purinton targeted two Indian men at the bar, killing one, and injuring a third man.

Copeland is expected to touch on lots of positive news in the city as well.
Several developments are in the works, including a new youth soccer complex, retail and a hotel at 106th and Ridgeview Road.
Tech giant Garmin also got the go-ahead for a major expansion at its Olathe campus.
And the old begins anew with the former Great Mall of the Great Plains. The Olathe City Council plans to seek out STAR bonds for the area, in which any developments would essentially pay for itself through sales and local tax revenue the area generates.
