When firefighters arrived on the scene, two people were still inside as the home burned. Crews found the two people on the second floor and pulled them to safety.
Officials told 41 Action News five of those injured were special needs patients. One caregiver, who had trouble pulling all of the patients out of the home, also sustained injuries.
One person is in critical condition, one person is in serious condition and four others are in fair condition.
The fire was under control in a half hour. It started in the back of the home, around the kitchen and basement area.
The Kansas Fire Marshal's Office said the fire was accidental, due to careless smoking.
