Students at Overland Park Elementary got the soccer field of their dreams, and it all started as a school project. They were given the task of finding something that needs help.

Student Noah Wilson already had something in mind - making a soccer field for his school. "You are watching this because we need help getting soccer goals because we can't afford them," said Noah in a video he sent to Sporting KC back in December.

In the video, he explains kids have to play soccer on the concrete basketball court rather than a nice green field.

After seeing the video, Sporting KC decided to kick in. On Thursday the grounds crew for Sporting KC mowed, measured, painted and set up goals.

"As a turf manager, you don't want to see kids playing on a hard surfaces, so it's great that they actually have an area we turn into a soccer field," said Josh Tvrdik.

The field would not have felt complete without players Matt Besler, Roger Espinoza and Jon Kempin there for the big reveal.

"It's about the kids today, I think we're all looking forward to see how they react," said Besler.

"Any time you can get out here and kind of play with them and play some games and play soccer, you know, that's pretty cool to me," said Kempin.

Noah even got a chance to play with them.

"It was fun, I just couldn't believe I got to play for with professional players and I can't believe I scored a goal on Kempin," said Noah.
