The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said a body was found in a field Tuesday evening.

A mushroom hunter called the sheriff's office around 7:30 p.m. about a body found in a farm field on East 278th, near State Route DD, in rural Harrisonville.

Investigators later identified the body as 36-year-old Vincent Royal of Independence.

Investigators believe Royal was a passenger in a vehicle that fled from deputies on earlier in the month.

According to police, the driver lost control and crashed near E. 275th and Hayden Bridge Rd outside of Harrisonville after pursuit. He was later taken into custody.

Deputies were unable to locate Royal.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released cause of death.

This is the second time human remains have been found by a mushroom hunter in Cass County.

Earlier in April a mushroom hunter found a set of human remains near 233rd Street and Route Y Highway in Cass County.

Investigators later found a second set of human remains. The Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office identified one set of human remains as Jessica Runions.
