Opening statements started Monday in the capital murder trial for a man who is accused of killing four people, including an infant.
Kyle Flack, 30, is charged with killing 31-year-old Kaylie Bailey and her 18-month-old daughter, Lana, in May 2013. He is also charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 30-year-old Andrew Stout and 31-year-old Steven White.
The adults' bodies were found at a farmhouse outside of Ottawa, and the baby was found a week later inside a suitcase floating in a creek.
Flack was on the run for two days until state troopers arrested him a few miles away from the crime scene.

During the state's opening statements, the prosecutor began going over a timeline of events and testimonies began from witnesses.
The defense opening statement lasted less than 10 minutes and called the state's evidence circumstantial.
Flack sat in silence listening and watching to the evidence against him.

Franklin County Prosecutor Stephen Hunting said Flack left White's body inside a garage to decompose.
The body was found by deputies on May 6, 2013.
"You look through the block and you can see what appears to be a jaw line, teeth and you notice that the rest of it. There's a blue tarp that's over this," he said.
White was Stout's roommate, who was also killed.
The prosecutor argued that Flack beat Stout with the barrel of the shotgun before shooting him four times in the face.
By the time deputies found Stout in the bedroom under a pile of clothes, his body was badly decomposed. He wasn't alone. The body of a woman was also uncovered.
She was identified as Stout's girlfriend, Kaylie Bailey. She was shot in the back with her arms bound with zip ties, according to the investigation.
Flack's terror did not end there.
"He pulled the trigger in that shotgun and shot Lana Bailey in the back," Hunting said.
The 18-month-old died instantly. Police found her body miles away from the home were her mother was murdered inside of a black suitcase, wrapped in a blanket in the fetal position. Her body was found on May 11, 2013.
Flack has pleaded not guilty and faces the death penalty if he's convicted on capital murder charges.
The case is expected to last for several weeks.
