All-Star catcher Salvador Pérez will stay with the Royals until at least 2021, according to a news release from the team.
The World Series MVP has reportedly negotiated a contract that will net him an additional $30 million and keep him with the Royals for five more years.

He's not the only one to see a significant pay increase lately. The team — "once among the cheapest teams in baseball," according to Yahoo Sports — has bumped up its total payroll to $130 million following its World Series win last year.
Left fielder Alex Gordon reportedly earned more than $70 million during the offseason.
Pérez, known to fans as "Salvy," started 137 games and earned his third consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove award last season.
