The University of Missouri suspended starting quarterback Maty Mauk on Tuesday for disciplinary reasons.
In a release sent Tuesday night, the university would only say the school suspended Mauk for a violation of team rules. In addition to Mauk, MU also suspended junior offensive lineman Malik Cuellar.
Neither Mauk nor Cuellar will be allowed to play Saturday versus South Carolina. MU will the reevaluate the status of both players after Saturday’s game.
Lee’s Summit graduate Drew Lock will likely replace Mauk at quarterback. While the team has not officially announced the starter, Lock, a freshman, is listed as No. 2 quarterback on the team’s latest depth chart.
Lock has played in all four of Mizzou’s games this year. In very limited action, he’s 15-25 for 225 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
