Previewing the Six String Circus tour

It's a a musical melting pot. A Thousand Horses are four guys with varied influences of rock and folk, groups like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rolling Stones and Paul Simon. Yet, somehow, they come together.

"I think that's the beauty of a band,” said guitarist Zach Brown. “You've got different people with different tastes and you get in a room and you make music and I think that's what comes out in a unique way."

A Thousand Horses stopped by Kansas City on tour with Jason Aldean. On the Six String Circus tour, you can expect to hear their new single "Southernality". It’s just one of the songs written with Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes.

"We set up in a church for three days and just jammed and that was one of the songs that came out of that session," said lead singer Michael Hobby.

Country music fans may remember A Thousand Horses from their 2015 trip to Kansas City with Darrius Rucker, former front man of Hootie and the Blowfish.  One of their favorite collaborations comes from that tour.

"Every night we would come out with him and sing 'Hold my Hand,' like everybody would take a verse. That was cool because we remember when that song came out when we were kids, and to be on stage with the guy who wrote it and sing it with him is kind of like full circle pretty surreal," said Hobby.

The Six String Circus tour goes through October. You can see them tonight at Providence Medical Center Amphitheater.
