Traditional Texas Sheet Cake
Batter:
Bring to boil:
1 cup margarine or butter (½ lb)
1 cup water
4 Tbls cocoa powder
Measure and set aside:
2 cups white sugar
2 cups flour
½ teas salt
1 teas baking soda
2 eggs
½ cup sour cream
1 teas vanilla
Take boiling mixture off heat, add rest of batter ingredients
and mix well until smooth
Pour into 11 x 16 jelly roll pan, bake at 350 for 20 min.
Boiled Frosting for Traditional Texas Sheet Cake
Boiled Frosting:
Bring to boil:
½ Cup margarine or butter (1/4 lb)
4 Tbls cocoa powder
6 Tbls milk
Remove from heat and stir in:
1 lb Confectioners Sugar (powder sugar)
Lastly, add:
1 teas vanilla
Pour onto cake when it comes out of oven
