Recipes for Hope for Harvesters is a very cool program where people can send holiday greetings to friends, loved ones or colleagues featuring a recipe from an area chef, giving the recipient a delicious new addition to their own table while helping providing meals to families in need. Chef Vaughn Good of Fox and Pearl is known as a philanthropic chef who supports the neighborhood where his restaurant is located. He joins us with the details and with his cornbread recipe.

Chef Vaughn Good’s Cornbread

1 cup cornmeal (Anson Mills)
¾ cup all purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt

1 egg
½ cup canola oil
1 cup milk
¼ cup honey

1. In large mixing bowl – combine dry ingredients
2. Add wet ingredients, stir together until batter forms – don’t over mix!
3. Bake in a cast iron pan at 325 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Cornbread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
