Local singer and Smithville, Missouri native Casi Joy continues to amaze “The Voice” coaches with her singing!
She prevailed in her battle round against fellow Team Blake contestant, Ashley Levin Monday night.
The pair performed the song, “How Blue” by Reba McEntire. Afterwards their coach, Blake Shelton was all smiles and gave them a standing ovation.
Alicia Keys called the performance, a “bon-a fide battle status” and Adam Levin described it as “a boxing match, posing as a singing competition.”

But Casi’s performance was put in the spotlight. Alicia Keys said she loved the vibrant and vivacious energy she had. Gwen liked her professionalism on stage.
It was a tough decision for Blake who held both singers in high regard.
“I told you girls from the second I heard you singing together, I wish I hadn’t put you together,“ he said.
But Blake said he needed to go with his gut feeling.
“I ultimately went with Casi because she just has this electric energy when she’s on stage. The unique things that Casi can do vocally, I want to continue to explore moving forward with her.”
When Blake chose Casi, she immediately threw up her arms with a huge smile of relief and joy.
“I just wanted this so bad and to hear yes from somebody I’ve looked up to my whole entire life, it’s everything,” she said.
Going to sleep 2night with the fullest heart. Thank U @blakeshelton for believing in me. I am so taken aback and shocked; but SO grateful. pic.twitter.com/x7hftKpy0M
