When did you start working here?
I started working at KSHB in November 2024.
Where else have you worked?
Before coming to the United States, I worked in Brazil for nearly seven years as a TV Producer, Assignment Manager, and Reporter. My experience includes positions at GazetaEsportiva.com, TV Gazeta, ESPN Brasil, and Olimpiada Todo Dia.
Most recently, I worked as a Color Commentator in Portuguese and Spanish for the KC Current with Tico Sports. I also spent a year in Joplin, MO, as a reporter/MMJ for KOAM News. Before that, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at KU's Journalism School.
Where did you go to college?
I graduated with a degree in Journalism from Faculdade Cásper Líbero in São Paulo, which is Brazil's most influential communication university and the first journalism school in South America. I also hold a postgraduate degree in Transmedia Creation, Production, and Audiovisual Management from the same institution.
In 2021, my passion for learning brought me to the United States, where I earned my Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!). My thesis focused on the work of Foreign Correspondents in the U.S.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your work?
As a journalist, I've had the opportunity to interview some incredible and talented people. Pelé, the greatest soccer player of all time; Rainn Wilson from The Office; and Pierre Bouvier, lead singer of Simple Plan, are just a few examples. However, while I am proud of those experiences, the thing I am most proud of is being a voice for those who might otherwise go unheard.
I am honored to tell stories that directly impact the lives of viewers, covering topics they care about and that are important to them. I love building connections and bridges through my work (and through the 3 ½ languages I speak -- Portuguese, English, Spanish, and in the process of learning French).
What are you most proud of in your own life?
I am most proud of my family. My grandparents and parents came from humble beginnings yet achieved so much in their lives. They are my heroes and biggest inspirations. I love feeling so connected to my family and friends in Brazil, even from thousands of miles away.
I am also proud of building a life far from so many things I love and cherish and finding a new home in Kansas City.
What do you love about living in the KC area?
My connection to Kansas City runs deep. In 2013, I first came to the U.S. as a high school exchange student in Shawnee, KS. I was incredibly blessed to meet wonderful people during that time—and even more so now.
I like to say Kansas City is the place my heart (and now my husband and I) chose to call home—and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
What are your favorite local hangouts/places, sports & cultural institutions?
My husband and I love going for long walks. Besides staying active, we enjoy exploring the city. Brookside, the Crossroads, River Market, and the neighborhood around the Nelson-Atkins Museum are some of my favorite places to do that.
Currently, my other happy place is CPKC Stadium. I love seeing how much Kansas City supports its sports teams, especially with the embrace of women's sports. The teams, fans, and atmosphere are incredible.
For food, Jazz, Joe's BBQ, Mildred’s, and Tik Taco are my all-time favorites.
All-time favorites... (movies, shows, books, music)
Series: Friends, Downton Abbey, Anne with an E, and Breaking Bad.
Books: I love reading non-fiction and biographies. Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir by Matthew Perry and In Cold Blood by Truman Capote are some of my favorites.
Music: I listen (and dance) to pretty much everything. So, I'll highlight the band that actually made my twin sister and I interested in learning English: The Jonas Brothers.
Other than kshb.com and KSHB 41 News, where do you get your news?
I read The New York Times and CNN, and I also keep an eye on local newspapers and TV stations in nearby regions. To stay updated on news from Brazil, I follow Globo and Folha de Sao Paulo.
Apps you can't live without:
WhatsApp, Instagram, and Duolingo (I’m currently learning French).
