When did you start working here?
I started working at KSHB 41 on Monday, Sept. 9.
Where else have you worked?
Before coming to KSHB, I spent two years as a reporter and anchor in Roanoke, Virginia at the CBS affiliate, WDBJ7. There, I helped launch our Target 7 investigative unit with everyday investigative reporting, digging deep into community issues and working with officials to find the solutions. During my time in Virginia, I reported on our main hospital's compliance failure with surgical instrument cleaning, uncovered a top ranking police ranking officials' lies to the community and followed fraud practices at a local bed and breakfast that left dozens of families out thousands of dollars, ultimately prompting a police investigation based on my reporting. I also worked at the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri, KOMU 8 News for four years, reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic, national protests and the 2020 presidential election.
Where did you go to college?
I'm a proud University of Missouri Tiger and I graduated in May 2022. I'm over the moon excited to be joining some of my former KOMU 8 coworkers and friends at KSHB!
What are you most proud of when it comes to your work?
When it comes to reporting, I'm most proud of the stories that find a solution in addition to the issue affecting our community. As journalists, we are able to gain access to resources that present these solutions and it's our public duty to share that information. The news can be scary and unnerving for a lot of folks, and it's my goal to find the answers that will keep our community informed and safe.
What are you most proud of in your own life?
Everyday, I try to learn something new, make a new connection or explore a new place. I consider myself a lifelong learner and I'm proud of the life I've been able to lead by having an open heart and an open mind! I love to travel, find new friends and reciprocate the kindness I see in the world everyday. I'm also a decent chef, and getting better everyday!
What do you love about living in the KC area?
While I'm still fairly new to the Kansas City area, I've been blown away by this city's welcoming atmosphere and how kind everyone is. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, went to school in Columbia and have a lot of family in St. Louis, so I would expect nothing but the best from the Midwest. But I've truly fallen in love with the life and vibrancy of Kansas City and I'm so excited to get exploring!
What are your favorite local hangouts/places, sports & cultural institutions?
Every weekend, you'll find me at the City Market, chatting with local vendors and trying a new local cafe or restaurant. I also love to visit the art museum and every once in a while, I get out of the city to hike along some trails.
All-time favorites... (movies, shows, books, music)
My favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's, favorite TV show is Game of Thrones, favorite book is The Book Thief and my favorite band (currently) is Maneskin and Guns n' Roses.
