Jessica McMaster is the Senior Investigative Reporter for KSHB 41.
Jessica is known for exposing public corruption, holding officials accountable and refusing to back down when it comes to getting results for the community.
Her investigations have changed laws, prompted FBI investigations and led to public officials being removed from office.
In 2017, following the murder of a 7-year-old boy, Jessica's reporting exposed a series of systemic failures within Kansas Department for Children and Families. As a direct result of her investigation, Adrian's Law was implemented, which aims to protect children from repeat abuse by strengthening policies within social services.
Most recently, Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) honored Jessica with a national investigative award for her reporting of a raid on a small-town newspaper and two homes. It's the first time a broadcast news journalist has received this honor in more than a decade. The judges noted they were, "impressed by the reporter's push for transparency and fight for public records." IRE also recognized Jessica as a finalist in another award category for her work on the raids.
The police chief responsible for the raids was suspended from the police force and charged with felony obstruction as a result of Jessica's reporting.
Additionally, Jessica's investigations have earned the station four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, seven Emmy Awards and various regional awards.
Prior to becoming an investigative reporter in Kansas City, Jessica worked as a news anchor, producer and general assignment reporter in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she helped launch the station's "Problem Solvers" investigative unit.
Jessica is now a proud Kansas Citian, who lives with her husband, two children and French Mastiff, Harley.
