Workout Wednesday: Pounding off the pounds

The beat is on at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, Kansas.  They have a new workout called, Pound.  The workout incorporates drum sticks and participants can literally beat their way to a slimmer body. They're not beating their bodies--they're beating their drum sticks.

I attended a class with Pound instructor, Carla Tretiak. She is high energy and highly motivated to help her class reach their goals.  No surprise, Carla said the Pound workout was created by two drummers on the west coast. Now the class is here in the Midwest and more people are giving it a try and liking it.

When the workout ended I was sweating and smiling. I knew that my leg muscles had a great workout and my heart rate was also challenged.  The drumsticks helped take my mind off the intensity of the workout and before I knew it the :45 minute Pound class was over!

Tetiak explained that one key to keeping your new year's resolution to exercise is to enjoy the workout. She also encouraged people struggling on working out at home alone to find a place where they can workout with friends. If you join the Jin January you get one month free plus a special fit kit valued at $500. The package includes special offers for discounted classes and a free t-shirt and water bottle.

The Pound classes are taught on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.  I would definitely give it another try.
