If you have a daughter in high school with Awesome Ambitions, some business professional women in Kansas City, Missouri, have a free college and career readiness program to help her achieve her goals.
Awesome Ambitions has a 19-year history of empowering, educating and inspiring girls in grades 9 - 12 to identify their long-term goals in life and begin taking steps to reach their dreams.
There are still 30 free slots available for the fall term, but parents must attend a mandatory orientation with their daughter.
The mandatory orientation is on Saturday, September 10 at the UMKC School of Nursing, 2646 Charlotte in Kansas City, Missouri, on the 4th foor from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
Following the parent orientation, girls will stay for the first Awesome Ambitions session of the new year. It begins at 9 a.m., also at the UMKC School of Nursing on the 4th floor.
Girls can complete their online application anytime at http://awesomeambitionskc.org/, but parents of new applicants must attend the orientation on Sept. 10 to complete the enrollment process.
Awesome Ambitions has a powerful and exciting event planned for its kick-off program on Sept. 10. Motivational speaker, entrepreneur and dynamic personality Mia Ramsey will be the keynote speaker.
“Having Mia Ramsey as our motivational speaker sets the tone for this year for our program,” said Awesome Ambitions President Cynthia Newsome. “Mia is an awesome businesswoman, singer, entrepreneur and motivator. We are expecting big things from our girls this year - great attendance, grades and great attitudes and effort - and Mia Ramsey is the perfect person to get our girls excited and ready to make a plan to achieve their dreams in life."
Ramsey is equally excited for the opportunity to inspire.
“As a young girl, I had great influences in my life, however, I wanted to be an influence,” Ramsey explained. “For that to happen, I had to get to the foundation or the substance of who I was, then why I was. That’s what I want to share with Awesome Ambitions girls."
Awesome Ambitions girls learn about communication, positive relationships, managing money, networking, goal-setting, time management and health and wellness. Girls also volunteer at local charities and experience what it’s like to be a medical student for a day. Awesome Ambitions girls attend college tours, theater productions and museums. They learn about etiquette, how to get a keep a job and how to start their own business.
Any high school girl, grade 9 -12, is welcome to enroll in Awesome Ambitions.
