Kansas City has many great fountains but few could be considered as epic as Neptune Fountain on the Country Club Plaza.
The statue is of Neptune, the Greek and Roman god who is sometimes called Poseidon. He's sculpted wielding a trident and riding three horses out of the fountain.
The statue was cast in lead in 1911 in Worcestershire, England. It changed hands several times before becoming a permanent part of the Country Club Plaza in 1953.
