KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Locally-based tax provider H&R Block announced Tuesday morning it has named Jeffrey Jones II as president and Chief Executive Officer.
Jones is scheduled to address Kansas City employees at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
President/CEO Tom Gerke will serve in his current capacity until Jones takes over on October 9. Gerke will then transition to general counsel and chief administration officer.
“This is a company that has great history, but it’s also about potential,” Jones said in an interview with 41 Action News. “I knew instantly it was a job I was interested in.”
Jones comes to H&R Block after serving as president of ride sharing at Uber. Before that, Jones was executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Minneapolis-based retailer Target.
“As a focused and inspiring leader with deep retail and digital expertise, (Jones) clearly understands the changing dynamics of consumer behavior,” board chairman Robert A. Gerard said in a release detailing the announcement.
