JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — 41 Action News reporter Steven Dial sat down with Gov. Mike Parson Monday.

After talking about some of the serious issues facing Missouri, Dial asked a few fun questions to get to know the governor better.

1. What’s your favorite food?

While Parson said cheeseburgers are his favorite, he can’t have them anymore because he had open heart surgery a few years ago.

Dial asked if Parson had his security sneak any in.

“I hadn’t thought about that!” Parson said. “I’m glad you mentioned that. It’s a new idea!”

2. Who’s your hero?

Parson said his father is his hero.

“Hardworking, humble man. Worked hard all his life on a little, old farm and raised us four boys with little to nothing,” he said. “Him and my mom were always big heroes to me, to do what they did, and for me to be in the position I’m in today is a really a credit to them of how they brought me up with a hard work ethic and doing what’s right.”

3. What’s your favorite TV show or movie?

Parson said “Open Range” is his favorite movie, but he doesn’t watch much TV.

4. Do you prefer horse riding or fishing?

Parson said fishing is good and he “doesn’t ride horses anymore.”

5. Who’s your favorite all-time Kansas City Chief?

Parson brought up his favorite sports team - the Kansas City Chiefs.

When asked about his favorite all-time Chief, he said, “You know what, Len Dawson has to be on the top of the list. He’s a Hall of Famer.”

Parson also praised team founder Lamar Hunt for what he did for the NFL and what he did for football.

6. What’s your favorite type of music?

Parson said he listens to Country and Christian music a lot.

7. Royals or Cardinals?

“Cardinals. Easy one for me,” Parson said laughing.

He said when he was growing up most people listened to the Cardinals games on the radio and that was a big reason that he became a fan.

“The Chiefs were the hot ticket, too. So, those were the two things. The Royals weren’t on the radio very much then, and they were newcomers,” Parson said.

He said he’s all red: red on the Cardinals, red on the Chiefs.
