KANSAS CITY, Mo. — At least 14 student-athletes in summer workout programs have tested positive for COVID-19 at Shawnee Mission East High School, according to a district spokesperson.
The Shawnee Mission East athletic director confirmed the cases Tuesday.
All sports practices are off this week, the spokesperson said, and are expected to resume next week.
The student-athletes who tested positive will return to practice after a period of time specific to the date they were diagnosed.
Shawnee Mission East previously suspended summer conditioning after two students tested positive in late June.
A Shawnee Mission South football player also tested positive.
That school’s football team is out for the week as well, with plans to return next week.
