4th Lansing Correctional Facility inmate dies from COVID-19

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On Saturday, a fourth Lansing Correctional Facility inmate died from COVID-19.

The Kansas Department of Corrections made the announcement Monday morning.

KDOC said the inmate was a man over 60 with underlying medical conditions. He tested positive for the virus on April 29 and was taken to the hospital on May 1. He died on Saturday, May 16.

The man had been in prison in Kansas since December 1989 for aggravated robbery and first-degree murder, according to KDOC. His earliest possible release date was October 1 of this year.

The person's name has not been released for privacy reasons.
