KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs and Arrowhead Stadium are hosting a blood donation drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Community Blood Center says it continues to experience a critically low blood supply as the COVID-19 pandemic has created a chronic deficit between current blood donations and what is needed by hospitals nation-wide.

According to the CBC, the gap is 3,000 donations per month in the community. Nationwide, the decrease of scheduled blood drives at businesses, schools, churches and community organizations is leading to an expected nationwide loss of over 250,000 units in the next two months alone.

The blood drive will be held at Arrowhead Stadium in the Tower Club.

Donors are asked to wear a face mask to their donation or one will be provided to them upon arrival.

The CBC says appointments are strongly encouraged and walk-ins will only be accepted if capacity allows. Appointments can be made online with the Group Code: ED8U, or call 1-877-468-6844.

All donors will receive a free Chiefs t-shirt.
