KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities will resume disconnects for unpaid utilities on Monday.

The company had suspended disconnects for both residential and business customers in March due to financial hardships placed on customers by COVID-19.

BPU said in a release it will work with customers to assist with payment arrangements, but that customers have continued to receive notice of amounts that need payment throughout the disconnect moratorium.

Anyone with billing or customer service questions can call 913-573-9190.

The BPU lobby remains closed due to COVID-19, so payments can be made online, by phone, via auto-withdrawal, at a payment kiosk or by mail or drop box.

Earlier this month, Evergy announced it was extending its moratorium on disconnects of electric service through July 15. Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative also plans to suspend late fees and disconnections until July.
