KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Cass County Health Department and the Board of County Commissioners Monday announced they would be following the lead of Missouri Gov. Mike Parson in making recommendations to citizens to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
In a release Monday morning, county commissioners said the county was in the “extreme risk” category of spread based on its positivity rate of 18.3% and seven-day case rate of 390.4 per 100,000 people.
While the commission stopped short of passing requirements, commissioners strongly encouraged residents to do many of the things outlined in the governor’s public health warning last week.
“The Commission believes that each individual is responsible for doing the right thing,” commissioners collectively wrote in the release. “We are in this together and to protect our families, our neighbors, our businesses, and our communities, everyone must follow these basic principles.”
