KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Children's Mercy Hospital reported Tuesday they have a second pediatric patient with the new disease being called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children, or MIS-C.
It was reported that the rare disease had shown up in Missouri last week, and Children's Mercy had a patient with it.
The hospital said they now have seen two cases, and one of those patients remains at the Adele Hall Campus.
The disease is associated with COVID-19 and also presents symptoms similar to Kawasaki Disease, which includes severe inflammation that can lead to death.
Children's Mercy did not say what condition the child is in.
